Popular US comedian Reggie Carroll’ shot de@d aged 52

Reginald ‘Reggie’ Carroll, a US comedian, has been shot and k!lled in Mississippi.

The 52-year-old comic, best known for his stand-up routines which he toured across the country was f@tally shot in Southhaven on August 20, police reports.

The Southhaven Police Department revealed the officers responded to reports of an isolated shooting and located “one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.”

Limited information was revealed due to the case being ongoing, but the police confirmed his identity and that he was shot more than once, as he suffered “gunshot wounds” plural.

“We can confirm that on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, the Southaven Police Department responded to the area of Burton Lane in regard to a shooting.

“Southaven officers located one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

“The officers and medical personnel provided life-saving techniques, but the individual succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Reginald Carroll (Maryland),” said a police post on social media.

The statement also confirmed that a suspect was in custody, with the police then paying their respects to the deceased’s family.

“One male is in custody and has been charged with the murder of Reginald Carroll. Our thoughts our with the family of Mr. Carroll. Thank you to the community for their patience and understanding.”

The comic was known as The Knockout King of Comedy and was a rising star and, touring with fellow comedian Katt Williams a the time of his de@th.

He had previously appeared in the TV film, Rent & Go, and in The Parkers. Carroll also appeared as himself in Knockout Kings of Comedy and Showtime at the Apollo.

Tributes have begun pouring in for the late artist, with many paying homage to his memory.

“Rest in power @comedianreggiecarroll, thank you for being one of the OGs who supported us early on. The Mobtown family and the Baltimore comedy community are very saddened by this loss of one of our city’s great talents. Sending our prayers to Reggie’s family,” Motown Comedy said.

“This man is responsible for pushing me to do Standup Comedy. With life lessons, he has taught me so much on and off the stage. I appreciate everything he has done for me. He will be missed. Rest in peace my brother @comedianreggiecarroll,” said Bernard Williams on Instagram.

Carroll’s brother, Jonathan Carroll, posted on Facebook: “To all who have expressed condolences on the passing of Reggie Carroll, your love has been well received-thank you!!!

“Due to the sensitive nature of Reg’s passing, we are asking all, to refrain from publicly sharing any details until we confirm all the facts. If you have posted any details, we respectfully ask that you delete the post.

“Please share my post to help us spread the word. Thank you all for your understanding and loving support – The Carroll Brothers,” he said, tagging Andre Carroll.
