Police Arrest Suspects Over Peter Obi’s Convoy Blockade in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has arrested some suspects in connection with the reported blockade of the convoy of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the state.

The incident reportedly occurred during Obi’s visit to Benue, where his convoy was allegedly obstructed by individuals suspected to be supporters of rival political interests.

The police commenced an investigation into the incident and subsequently arrested suspects believed to have been involved in the blockade.

The command said the arrests were part of efforts to maintain law and order and prevent acts capable of disrupting political activities in the state.

The development comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with security agencies warning politicians and their supporters against violence, intimidation and other forms of political misconduct.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether the suspects will face charges.

Further details on the identities of those arrested and the specific offences they may be charged with were not immediately available.
