Police Arrest 7 Suspected Cult Members in Lagos

Lagos State Police Command arrested seven suspected cult members and recovered dangerous weapons from them.

This is contained in a statement signed by command spokesperson CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made available to the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.

Adejobi said agents from Morogbo’s division arrested the suspects on Sunday after receiving reports that men suspected of being cult members were meeting at a hotel in Morogbo.

He said the suspects were arrested with a locally made pistol, two live cartridges, an ax and assorted charms.

Adejobi said Police Commissioner CP Hakeem Odumosu ordered the case to be transferred to the command’s special squad, Ikeja, for investigation.

He said the CP had reiterated the command’s commitment to fighting cults and all kinds of crimes in the state.

“The PC calls on all residents to join the police in improving the state’s already established security architecture,” he added.

Meanwhile, police officers attached to the Ipakodo division in Ikorodu arrested a 45-year-old Kayode Adeyanju on June 7 for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

The spokesperson said the girl reported the case to the Ipakodo police station on June 7.

Adejobi said the CP also ordered that the case be transferred to the command’s gender unit for further investigation.
