Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy, Udochukwu Nwankwo, in connection with an alleged armed robbery incident in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was arrested by operatives attached to B Division, Amansea, during a security patrol in the early hours of Sept. 2.
The police also recovered a shiny metallic lighter designed in the shape of a pistol, which the suspect allegedly used to threaten and dispossess his victim of valuables.
According to preliminary information from the command, Nwankwo and two other accomplices, who are currently at large, allegedly attacked a guest at a hotel in the area.
The suspects allegedly dispossessed the victim of her mobile phone and other personal belongings.
The police said the suspect, during interrogation, allegedly confessed to using the recovered object to threaten victims during robbery operations.
Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said investigation had been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Tochukwu said the command was also making efforts to recover the stolen phone and other valuables.
He added that all persons found culpable would be brought to justice.
