    PMS: NNPC Begins 24-hour Operations in Depots

    Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. says it has started 24-hour operations at NNPC depots and outlets, to restore normal supply and distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across the country.

    The NNPC made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday and obtained the Nigeria Agency in Lagos.

    The statement read: “NNPC Ltd. wishes to assure Nigerians that it has put in place appropriate measures to expedite the previously discontinued domestic distribution of PMS from methanol-blended gasoline.

    “The quarantine was a necessary step to safeguard our customers from the potential impact of this degree of PMS on vehicles and machinery.

    ” To date, NNPC has over a billion liters of certified PMS stock that is safe for use in vehicles and machinery.

    “To speed up distribution throughout the country, we have started 24-hour operations at our warehouses and points of sale. “

    According to the release, as part of NNPC’s strategic replenishment, more than 2.3 billion liters of PMS are scheduled to be delivered between now and the end of February 2022, which will restore sufficiency above the 30-day national target. .

    He said that the Nigerian Petroleum Traders Association, the Nigerian Petroleum Products Traders and Depot Owners Association and the Nigerian Independent Petroleum Traders Association had also started 24-hour loading and distribution activities at some of their designated outlets.

    The release says that the NNPC monitoring team was collaborating with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and other security agencies to ensure a smooth distribution of PMS throughout the country.

    “NNPC implores Nigerians to avoid panic buying as there is a sufficient volume of PMS in the country and an effort is being made to expedite distribution to all gas stations,” he said.
