Panic in Idimu Area of Lagos State as High-Tension Cables Fall on Vehicles

There was tension in Igando and Idimu areas of Lagos State after high-tension cables fell across major roads and vehicles in the axis.

It was learnt that the cables fell after the pylon transmitting electricity from Egbin Hydro Power Station collapsed Friday morning.

The cables also fell on shanties located under the pylons in the densely populated area.

As of the time of filing this report, no casualty has been recorded.

This as the National Emergency Management Authority appealed to residents to be safety conscious.

South-West Co-ordinator of NEMA, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, said officials of the agency were at the scene of the incident to prevent loss of lives and destruction of more properties.

Farinloye said power service agencies and other officials have isolated the 330kva line.

Farinloye said, “Residents of Igando, Idimu Axis are strongly advised to observe serious safety precautions due to the collapse of high tension poles that emanated from Egbin Hydro power station.

“The line is from Ikorodu across Ikeja and other areas. The Fire Service has been mobilised to provide cover in case of fire outbreak.
