Paga Hits $1.5bn Monthly Transaction Volume as CEO Reveals Company Valuation

Tayo Oviosu, founder & Group CEO, Paga

Tayo Oviosu, Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Paga, says the fintech company processes about 1.5 billion dollars in transactions monthly.

Oviosu disclosed this in an interview with School of Hard Knocks, which returned to Nigeria to feature the Paga founder.

He said Paga had more than 200 employees and processed about 1.5 billion dollars in transaction volume every month.

According to him, the company is valued at hundreds of millions of dollars, while its highest annual revenue was about 60 million dollars in today’s value.

“Paga today has over 200 employees, and we are processing over $1.5 billion every month.

“It’s hard to say in exact numbers but my company is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. In revenue for the company we made about $60 million in one year,” he said.

The figures highlight the scale of Paga’s operations and the growth of the financial technology company in Africa.

Oviosu said Africa presented significant opportunities for entrepreneurs building financial services companies, citing the continent’s young population and growing demand for financial products.

He said about 60 per cent of Africa’s population was under the age of 25, describing the demographic structure as an opportunity for businesses developing financial services for a new generation of consumers.

Paga has focused on expanding access to digital financial services, particularly for consumers and businesses operating outside traditional banking channels.

The company has recorded significant growth in transaction volumes since it commenced commercial operations, processing trillions of naira through its platform over the years.

In 2024, Paga said it had processed N14 trillion worth of transactions in its first 15 years of operation.

Oviosu disclosed the figure at the time, saying about 80 per cent of the transactions had been recorded in the preceding five years.

He also said Paga had created about 1,000 direct jobs and more than 100,000 indirect jobs through its agent network across Nigeria.
