Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo, said the state’s modular Ologbo refinery , Ikpoba – Okha Local Government Area (LGA) is ready for production .
Obaseki said this shortly after being driven around the facility by the refinery’s general manager, Mr. Tim Tian.
“We were in China to sign this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). I am very impressed that work has moved at such speed despite the delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The plant is ready to receive crude oil; it is ready to process and it is ready to deliver products. They did the pre-commission with the Department of Petroleum Resources, they certified the refinery.
“What is left for us now is to finalize the crude oil sales contract, these facilities have to get some type of crude from the escravos line and that is being finalized.
“I hope that before the end of August we should start removing the products from this refinery,” he said.
Also speaking, the traditional leader of the community of Ologbo, Mr. Owen Akenzua, expressed his satisfaction with the facility.
“My people are delighted that such a project greatly contributes to improving the socio-economic development of our community.
“The governor has this project close to his heart, not just this project, the power station is also located in Ologbo.
“The OSIOMO power plant is capable of generating electricity for the immediate environment and the state as a whole, we are happy that this project is located here,” he said.
Mr. Tim Tian, general manager of the Ologbo modular refinery, congratulated the governor on his efforts to update the project.
Tian, who agreed that the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic affected the project, however said the facility was ready for production. (NAN)
