The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed as false a viral notice claiming that a special redeployment window has been opened for corps members.
The scheme issued the clarification on Friday through its verified X handle, warning prospective and serving corps members, as well as parents and guardians, to disregard the circulating message.
The fake notice, titled “URGENT NOTICE: NYSC REDEPLOYMENT,” claimed that the redeployment portal had been reopened due to concerns relating to national security, health and the state of the nation.
It urged corps members with what it described as “genuine grounds” to apply immediately to ensure their safety, proper placement and timely completion of the mandatory national service.
The fraudulent message also directed applicants to contact two phone numbers for assistance, claiming that valid documents were required and that all applications would follow NYSC guidelines.
Reacting to the development, the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters published the viral notice on its verified X account, clearly marking it with a bold “FAKE NEWS” stamp and describing it as a disclaimer.
The scheme urged members of the public to ignore the message, stressing that it did not originate from the NYSC.
As of the time of filing this report, the NYSC had not identified those responsible for circulating the fake notice.
The development comes as the scheme continues to caution corps members to rely only on official NYSC communication channels for information regarding redeployment, postings and other service-related matters.
