The Nigerian Air Force has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking to join the Service as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women.
According to the NAF, online registration for the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026 will open on September 3 and close on October 14, 2026.
The Air Force said the application is free and advised prospective applicants to carefully review the eligibility requirements and application guidelines before submitting their forms.
Applicants can access the recruitment portal at nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng.
For tradesmen/women, applicants must be between 18 and 27 years old by March 1, 2027, while non-tradesmen/women applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old by the same date.
Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and must meet the required physical standards, including a minimum height of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.
They must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit and satisfy the NAF’s medical and employment requirements.
For tradesmen/women, candidates with ND or NCE qualifications must obtain their certificates from accredited institutions and have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS.
Applicants seeking trades that require a Trade Test must possess the relevant certificate and meet the applicable SSCE requirements. Those applying as drivers must also have a valid driving licence.
For non-tradesmen/women, applicants must have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in the relevant examinations. They must also possess a Primary School Certificate and Secondary School Testimonial.
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form.
The attestation form may be signed by a military officer from the applicant’s state of origin not below the rank of Wing Commander in the NAF or an equivalent rank in the Nigerian Army or Navy.
It may also be signed by a police officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or above, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.
The attestation form must include the applicant’s passport photograph and a photocopy of the signatory’s driver’s licence, National Identity Card or international passport.
The NAF said the zonal general aptitude test for successful applicants would be held on a date to be announced through the recruitment portal.
Only candidates who successfully pass the aptitude test will be invited for the interview stage.
