NELFUND Student Loan Applications Surpass One Million in Under a Year

Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a major milestone in its student loan programme, revealing that applications have exceeded one million since the scheme’s launch on May 24, 2024.

In a statement issued on Sunday, November 2, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, said the surge in applications reflects the programme’s expanding reach and growing impact on access to higher education nationwide.

So far, the agency has disbursed over ₦116 billion to students enrolled in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.

The funds cover both tuition fees and living expenses, providing comprehensive financial support to beneficiaries.

Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director of NELFUND, hailed the milestone as a strong endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which prioritizes inclusive education and youth empowerment through targeted financial interventions
