NECO Reveals 2021 SSCE Results May be Released in Three Weeks

The National Examination Council (NECO) says the release of results for its 2021 Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) may come in three weeks.

Azeez Sani, spokesman of the council, confirmed the timeline of the procedure to TheCable Lifestyle on Friday.

“We’re still on the field. We haven’t finished the exams. It’s only thereafter that we’ll mark. After the marking, we’ll then decide when to release. The space between the end of exams and marking is typically a few days,” he said.

“The exams will finish by next week. Marking takes about two to three weeks. So days after marking, we’ll release.

“The procedure has been seamless since the exams commenced. We’ve not had issues so far.”

Earlier, NECO said that about 1.3 million candidates were taking part in the ongoing 2021 SSCE across the country.

Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar, also revealed that about 1.1 million people sat for the examination in 2020.

He said the body has put in place strong mechanisms to protect the integrity and standard of the examination.

According to the registrar, NECO was working towards perfecting plans to introduce computer-based exam.
