The National Council for Technical Education (NBTE) trained 118 staff in cybersecurity to build the capacity of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions.
Executive Secretary Prof Idris Bugaje said this during the interns virtual graduation ceremony in Kaduna on Friday.
He said this effort would dramatically transform the TVET sector.
Bugaje said 118 participants from 45 TVET institutions and 22 from NBTE were trained in collaboration with CISCO and the University of Jos, Plateau, as trainers.
He said the participants were trained on essential information technology, essential cybersecurity and cybersecurity operations.
He congratulated CISCO for assisting NBTE in its efforts to transform the TVET sector, especially with regard to information and communication technologies as well as cybersecurity.
“I am impressed that CISCO Networking Academy has provided effective support to the educational and socio-economic sectors of the country.
“It does this in partnership with government, industry partners, educational institutions and non-governmental organizations across the country. It is very commendable, ”Bugaje said.
The NBTE boss encouraged TVET institutions to link up with CISCO to become certified academic centers for other training of trainers workshops in their geopolitical areas.
He said the agreements with CISCO were on track to make NBTE a CISCO Academy support center for capacity development and certification. (NAN)
