    National Ex-Councillors’ Forum Applauds Buratai’s Peace Efforts, Appoints Him Patron

    The National Ex-Councillors’ Forum of Nigeria, Yobe State chapter, has commended Nigerian Ambassador to Republic of Benin, Ambassador Tukur Buratai for giving insurgents good fight and degrading their stronghold during his tenure as Nigerian Chief of Army Staff.

    The commendation came on Tuesday, June 29 when the Forum, led by the Chairman, Honourable Abdulganiyu Mohammed, paid Buratai a courtesy visit at the Government Lodge in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.

    The Forum briefed Ambassador Buratai about the aims and objectives of the association, stressing that they are closer to the people for necessary engagements on peaceful co existence.

    They explained that the courtesy visit was to show appreciation and gratitude to Lieutenant General Buratai (rtd) for his efforts as Chief of Army Staff from July 2015 to January 2021, which brought peace, security and development to their communities in Yobe State and Nigeria at large.

    They commended him for establishing many strategic military units and institutions in the northeast that further deter terrorist activities.

    The team also congratulated him for his well-deserved appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin and presented him with a letter of appointment and honour as Patron of the Forum.

    Responding, Ambassador Buratai, who was in Damaturu for family visit, thanked the Forum for the visit and accepted to serve as its Patron.

    He commended the leadership and members for their continued commitment to peace and development in their wards, Yobe State and the nation.

    He stated that as grassroots people, Ward Councillors have a strategic role in supporting the Federal and State Governments in fostering peace and security in their respective Wards.
