MTN Supports 2021 Design Week Lagos

MTN Nigeria supported the recently concluded 2021 edition of Design Week Lagos (DWL) themed, “Design Revolution”. The annual citywide celebration is aimed at bringing a community of local and international designers, architects and creatives together to celebrate and promote Lagos as a leading design hub while showcasing both emerging and established design talents across Africa.

This year’s edition, which included an award presentation ceremony and the Made by Design documentary premiere and virtual watch party, was held in various venues across the city of Lagos from October 21st to 31st, 2021, in a hybrid of virtual and physical events.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Senior Manager, Sponsorship and Promotions, MTN Nigeria, Osaze Ebueku, explained the reason for sponsoring the event.

According to him, “MTN decided to sponsor this programme because aside from being an ICT company, we are a Nigerian company, committed to supporting the passion of the Nigerian people as well as encouraging national growth.

“This is the guiding philosophy behind our various interventions, from football to music, arts and culture and the entire creative space. These are things that Nigerians are passionate about.”

Ebueku noted the impact of the project in bringing design talents across Nigeria together and expressed MTN’s elation at being a part of it, saying, “Projects like this help to bring talents across the country together and MTN is glad to be in partnership with this laudable project. As a brand, we are an enabler to bringing to life this project for the benefit of all.”

The Founder, Design Week Lagos and one of Nigeria’s foremost interior designers, Titi Ogunfere, thanked MTN for its support for the event and for talented Nigerian designers as they showcased their creativity.

This year’s exhibition included designs from Studio Lani, Nifemi Bello, Tosin Oshinowo, Damola Rufai, Maki Oh, an African-based fashion label founded by Amaka Osakwe and Adebayo Oke Lawal, the Founder and Creative Director, Orange Culture.
