MTN Partners Wizkid to Deliver Exciting Performance in Abuja

Barely a month after Wizkid’s partnership with MTN on the globally-acclaimed three-day Made In Lagos Concert at the O2 Arena in London, the duo partnered again to excite fans at the Wizkid Live-in Concert at the Hilton in Abuja.

“I came straight from the airport to see you guys. I’ve been everywhere around the world, but there’s nowhere like home,” Wizkid told screaming fans at the concert.

The concert, sponsored by ICT giant MTN Nigeria, also had other headliners like Tome, a Canada-based Nigerian artiste and the Isomers, an African alternative music band made up of Oluwaseun Daniel, Isaac Isumanu, Monlee and Motietru.

Other headliners at the concert include dancer Poco Lee and BBNaija stars, Liquorose, Cross and Michael, among others.

In November, MTN Nigeria made it possible for fans outside London to be part of the Made In Lagos Concert by partnering with music streaming platform, uduX, to livestream the concert with discounted data offers for its customers.

Speaking on the partnership, Adia Sowho, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria said, “It is very important to us at MTN to support Nigerian talent.

“Wizkid is undeniably one of Africa’s biggest music exports and we are honoured to be a part of his story.

“We also love to deliver exciting experiences to Nigerians because we value what they value. These explain our contributions in the Nigerian music industry. We are happy that the concert was a memorable one for both the audience and the artistes.”

The most-streamed Nigerian singer opened the long-anticipated show in Abuja with ‘Fever’ before taking off his hoodie and shirt and throwing them into the crowd to the delight of fans.

He would later sing his mega-hit, ‘Ojuelegba’, backed up by the live band and the audience. He also thrilled the audience with songs from his old and new hits from the ‘Made In Lagos’ album before inviting his signee Starboy Terri to join him on stage to perform ‘Soco’; his 2018 hit single.

Wizkid’s performance was so electrifying that two excited fans ran onto the stage holding his leg; it took the intervention of his security before he was rescued from the grip of the fans who were not ready to let go.
