MTN Hands Over Y’ello Doctor Truck to Kwara State Government

MTN Nigeria through its foundation has kicked off the third phase of the Y’ello Doctor initiative. This will see MTN Foundation provide free medical intervention for Nigerians in semi-urban and rural areas across six states – Lagos, Kwara, Kano, Gombe, Anambra and Rivers in partnership with Market Doctors. Following the launch of the initiative in Lagos, MTN foundation handed over the Y’ello Doctor mobile Trucks to the Kwara State Ministry of Health on Tuesday the 23rd November, 2021.

The Y’ello Doctor medical intervention will collaborate with the Kwara State Ministry of Health to provide free medical services to rural and semi-urban communities in Kwara state. Services to be provided include:medical screening and diagnosis, consultation, treatment, drug prescription, vaccination as well as referral services. There will also be education and awareness about topical health issues.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Odunayo Sanya, Executive secretary MTN foundation said, “The Y’ello Doctor project is essentially about closing the last mile between diagnosis and treatment. We realise that health is an economic issue, many people cannot go to the hospital because they cannot afford it, therefore we take the burden off them by providing free access to healthcare”

Kayode Alabi, Deputy Governor of Kwara state in his closing remark at the handover ceremony said “The vision of the current Kwara state Government is to improve the health sector in Kwara state and provide free medical services especially at the primary level, and we are happy that the Y’ello Doctor is coming to Kwara state at this time. I am also using this medium to challenge other private organisations to emulate MTN Nigeria ”.

The Y’ello Doctor Initiative since its inception in 2014, has Impacted over 500,000 Nigerians and 100 communities in Taraba, Abia, Ogun, Delta, Katsina and Niger state.
