Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, who has seized the media space since she stopped Fuji maestro, K1 de Ultimate from boarding a ValueJet flight, is an experienced pilot who has been captain for almost five years.

Oluranti who is also known as Rantilicious was born Oluranti Ogunwale to Felix Kola Ogunwale, a former Senator, who represented Osun Central between 2003 and 2007.

She is married to a fellow pilot, Isaac Ogoyi Jr, who also worked with Arik Air before moving to RwandAir and later Uganda Airlines, where he currently works.

Oluranti stepped in to stop K1 from boarding with a flash that contained a liquid. The musician had insisted on boarding with his flask.

According to aviation laws, no individual is allowed to carry any form of liquid, especially when it is more than 100ml unless it is declared and documented with the appropriate papers as medication.

As the argument continued on the tarmac, the ValueJet pilot instructed that the door be shut. She and her co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Iloba, then proceeded to move the plane in the process, almost running over K1 and others on the ground.

Ogoyi and Iloba have since been suspended by aviation authorities. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has ordered that K1 be sanctioned, too.

A six-month ‘no fly’ ban has been placed K1 with Mr. Keyamo threatening loss of operating licence by a. Airline that violates the ban.

A pilot of over 10 years, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi joined ValueJet a few years ago after flying with Arik Air. She became a full captain in September 2021.
