Lagos Police Arrest Kingpin of Gang Disguised as Security Operatives Using Fake Uniforms and Modified Car Jack to Steal Vehicle Parts

Lagos State Police Command has arrested 46-year-old Jude Onouha, leader of a criminal gang that impersonated security operatives to infiltrate estates in Lagos.

The gang used fake security uniforms and a modified Mercedes-Benz car jack disguised as a firearm to gain access, where they targeted high-end SUVs including Toyota Hilux, Lexus 650, and Mercedes-Benz, vandalizing vehicles and stealing vital components such as brainboxes, wiring, side mirrors, and control devices.

The suspect is cooperating with police investigations while efforts continue to apprehend other members of the gang. Police recovered the modified car jack and a “Special Force” cap used for disguise.

Residents and estate security have been urged to verify identities of anyone claiming to be security personnel and to report suspicious individuals immediately to divisional police officers.

The Lagos Police Commissioner, CP Olohundare Jimoh, emphasized vigilance, community cooperation, and provided emergency contact numbers for prompt police response.
