The assailants stormed the villages around 6pm, unleashing widespread destruction by setting the King’s palace ablaze and massacring residents who refused to adopt a distorted form of Islamic doctrine.
Speaking during a visit to the Emir of Kaiama on Wednesday, the Governor described the incident as a pure massacre, distinct from typical ransom kidnappings.
“I commiserate with you over the death of 75 of your subjects… they refused to succumb to a converted form of Islamic doctrine… abiding by the Islamic faith and basically did not want any alteration to the Hadith,” AbdulRazaq told the Emir.
He stressed that the attack targeted the community’s fidelity to traditional Islamic practices, vowing it would not be overlooked.
US-based Nigerian journalism professor Farooq Kperogi reported that locals claim the terrorists, known as Mamuda, retaliated after the village head, Alhaji Salihu Umar, alerted security agents to a threatening letter about planned preaching visits.
Kperogi detailed a bloodbath starting Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, with at least 170 deaths, homes burned, kidnappings, and the village head’s SUV seized; his whereabouts remain unknown.
Governor AbdulRazaq condemned the savagery, noting nine communities under the emirate faced similar pressures but stood firm
