JUST IN: Donald Duke, Adebayo, Aliyu, Others Arrive For Opposition Summit In Abuja

Former Cross River State Governor and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) presidential candidate, Donald Duke, has arrived at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for the ongoing Summit of Opposition Political Parties.

Also at the summit are the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewale Adebayo, and former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu.

The summit, convened by political pressure group G-100, is aimed at building a united opposition platform ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Other dignitaries at the event include the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura; PRP National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed; and SDP vice-presidential candidate, Usman Bugaje.

The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Fred Agbedi; G-100 Convener, Salihu Lukman; and National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, are also attending the summit.

Welcoming participants, Lukman urged opposition political parties to set aside their differences and work towards a common objective focused on the interests of Nigerians.

He said the parties must prioritise building a strong platform before negotiating positions within any prospective alliance.

“We are not asking any political party to dissolve. Let us agree that we must build the table before negotiating the seats,” Lukman said.

The summit is expected to focus on strategies for strengthening opposition cooperation and presenting a formidable challenge to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
