Jubilation as Adeleke Wins Polling Unit With 421 Votes

There was jubilation on Saturday after Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, won his polling unit in the ongoing governorship election.

Adeleke secured 421 votes at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, in Ede North Local Government Area of the state.

His supporters broke into celebration shortly after the result was announced at the polling unit.

Adeleke had earlier expressed confidence in victory after casting his ballot at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, also expressed optimism about his chances after voting at Ward 09, Unit 011, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.

The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, however, raised concerns over the alleged failure to recognise some of his party’s agents at several polling locations across the state.

The three major contenders had expressed confidence in winning the election as voting ended and officials began sorting and collating results.

As of 5:24pm on Saturday, checks on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s IReV portal showed that 1,386 of the 3,763 polling-unit results had been uploaded.

The final outcome of the election will be determined by the results collated from all polling units across the state.
