IG Orders Kyari Allegation to be Investigated

The Inspector General of Police (IG), Mr. Usman Baba, ordered an internal review of the corruption allegation against Mr. Abba Kyari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

The Force’s Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr. Frank Mba, revealed this in a statement Thursday in Abuja.

Kayari has been accused of being paid by serial internet fraudster Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi, to arrest a friend of his in a $ 1.1 million deal.

Mba said the IG order followed receipt of the allegations and prosecution proceedings from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

He pledged the Nigerian police’s commitment to the pursuit of justice and to strengthening its professional relationship with the FBI and other international partners.

Mba said further developments in the case will be released to the public. (NAA)
