    Gunmen attack home of SDP House of Reps candidate in Rivers

    The country home of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Obio-Akpor Federal Constituency in Rivers state, King Tony Gboms, was on Tuesday night February 23, attacked by gunmen.

    The Nation reported that the attackers stationed their vehicle at the entrance of the palatial compound and rained bullets at some of the buildings shattering glass windows.

    They reportedly threw dynamites into the compound which is located along Sani Abacha Road in Port Harcourt Capital city. Parts of the building were destroyed during the attack and it was also learnt that some person who were injured are now receiving medical treatment.

    Gboms confirmed the incident saying it occurred at about 10 pm while he was having a meeting with some folks. He said;

    “I heard a loud explosion that shocked the entire compound and it was followed with multiple gunshots. I saw drones hovering over my house. A vehicle was stationed at the entrance and they were shooting.

    “We discovered that they had thrown dynamites in the compound. I don’t know who they are. They should know that we are contesting this election. The Police and the bomb units were here yesterday. They are going on with their investigations”.
