First Lady Meets Wives of Service Chiefs, Urges Support for Spouses

The first lady, Aisha Buhari, on Monday urged the wives of department heads and the inspector general of police to always support their wives in carrying out their duties to the nation.

Buhari said this while receiving the wives of the department heads during a familiarization visit to the State House, Abuja.

She said providing such support would help boost the morale of their husbands and strengthen their commitment to the fight against crime in Nigeria.

The first lady also called on the competent authorities to ensure a massive recruitment of security personnel to strengthen the strength of the security forces in the country.

While praising the federal government’s efforts in prompt payment of benefits for killed security personnel, the first lady urged authorities to keep up the pace.

In response, Ms Vickie Irabor, President of the Association of Defense and Police Officers’ Wives (DEPOWA), pledged her support and commitment to the First Lady in her quest to provide services to the less privileged in society. .

Irabor expressed his determination to work in synergy with the first lady to ensure peace in the country.

“We know it’s not easy; we have come to you to show you our support as you are a pillar of our support in the security family, ”she said.

NAN reports that the wives of the army chief of staff, Ms Salamatu Yahaya, are present; the Chief of the Air Staff, Ms Elizabeth Amao; and the Chief of the Naval Staff, Ms Nana Gambo.

Others are the wives of the Inspector General of Police, Ms Hajara Alkali-Baba and the Director General of the Department of State Services, Ms Aisha Bichi.
