Fire Guts Five Shops at Gombe Technology Incubation Centre, Destroys N4m Property

A fire outbreak at the Technology Incubation Centre near the Police Headquarters in Gombe State on Friday affected five shops, destroying property estimated at N4 million.

The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command, said its swift intervention prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of the facility and helped save property valued at approximately N15 million.

According to the command, it received a distress call about the incident at 10:14 a.m. and immediately deployed a multipurpose water tender to the scene.

The firefighting operation was led by ASF II Mukhtar Shehu, with IF Bernard serving as the driver. Upon arrival, the crew began efforts to contain the blaze and eventually extinguished it using one medium jet of water.

The Federal Fire Service said four of the five affected shops were successfully protected from the flames during the operation.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASF MB Muazu, said firefighters conducted a thorough inspection after putting out the fire and found no immediate risk of re-ignition.

Muazu confirmed that the incident involved five shops at the Technology Incubation Centre and said the estimated property loss stood at N4 million, while assets worth about N15 million were salvaged.

He added that the fire service appliance and crew returned to the station at about 11:09 a.m. after confirming that the fire had been completely extinguished.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to responding promptly to emergencies and protecting lives and property across the state.

Muazu also urged residents to report fire incidents immediately and adhere to basic fire safety measures to reduce the risk of preventable damage and loss.
