The federal government on Thursday expressed its commitment to the effective implementation of projects that would improve the well-being of civil servants in the country.
Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of the Federation Civil Service (HCSF), said this during the inauguration and handover of the erosion / flood control and road improvement works at the estate. officials from Ama Pepple, FCT.
Yemi-Esan said the project was one of the 7th ecological interventions, approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2019.
She said the government has also implemented a project called the Federal Integrated Staff Housing Program (FISH) in pursuit of this goal.
The HCSF explained that the FISH program was designed to provide quality and affordable housing for public servants, in accordance with the federal government’s housing policy.
According to her, the government is working diligently to improve the lives of civil servants.
“We are also working to provide critical infrastructure in areas built for civil servants under the FISH project.
“The necessary steps have been taken to reposition the FISH program. Thus, we are working very hard to ensure that the public and officials live in comfortable accommodation.
“The federal government is determined to pursue and implement projects aimed at ensuring the well-being of citizens and seeking better opportunities for the economic growth of the country,” she said.
Yemi-Esan, however, implored residents of the estate to cherish the project and refrain from any waste dumping to ensure its sustainability.
“After completing this project, the standard of living of residents will be improved. It will also reduce the dangers of erosion and persistent flooding that have taken place here in recent times.
“The execution of projects across the country also demonstrates the sincerity of the objective of the current administration in favor of the establishment of justice, equity and fair play for everyone”, a- she declared.
She congratulated Ecological Fund Office (EFO), the project contractor; Diamond Global Engineering Investment Ltd and the project consultant; Enplan Group Ltd, for their tenacity in ensuring the speedy completion of the project.
Dr Habiba Lawal, the permanent secretary of EFO, said the project was initiated by an urgent intervention request, forwarded to EFO by the president of the estate.
Lawal said the request was aimed at stopping continued erosion, flooding and other ecological challenges, as well as preventing further environmental degradation, loss of life and property in the area.
She said that the completion of the project was made possible by the efforts of the contractor and the project consultant, who worked tirelessly to ensure minimum time for project implementation.
Dr Gaga Ali, the president of the estate, who spoke on behalf of the residents, thanked the federal government and EFO officials for their efforts to ensure that the project was properly implemented.
Ali asked the government to build an access road to the estate, because according to him, every year the inhabitants repair the road, it deteriorates due to erosion.
Additionally, Alhaji Mohamed Bello, managing director of Diamond Global Engineering Investment Ltd, said the job was to be completed within six months, but was completed in four months.
Bello said the project was executed during the rainy season, and despite the horrible condition of the road and the season, the contractors were able to ensure the delivery of a quality project. (NAN)
