The raids, which took place on Tuesday, Dec. 16, were confirmed in a statement issued by Malami’s media aide, Mohammed Doka, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the EFCC operatives searched the properties without prior notice, focusing on documents allegedly linked to Chapter 9 of the Justice Ayo Salami Judicial Commission of Inquiry Report.

Doka described the development as “deeply alarming,” noting that it followed recent public calls for the EFCC Chairman’s recusal over alleged bias connected to the report.
“We consider this development deeply alarming. Coming on the heels of a public call for the EFCC Chairman’s recusal on grounds of bias arising from Chapter 9, these raids raise grave concerns about intimidation, retaliation, and the safety of our staff and of Abubakar Malami, SAN,” the statement read.
Malami urged civil society organisations, professional bodies, and human rights groups to press the Federal Government and the Ministry of Justice to release the Salami Report, particularly Chapter 9, in the interest of transparency and accountability.

He further called on Nigerians and the media to question the timing and legality of the raids, stressing that any harm to him or his staff would be attributable to what he described as a “pattern of conduct.”
