The commission disclosed this in a statement on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, noting that the incident affected millions of data points.
According to the CAC, the portal will be unavailable for three days, from April 17 to April 20, to enable system maintenance and security reinforcement.
The commission said it is working closely with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to mitigate the impact of the breach and strengthen its cybersecurity infrastructure.
It added that the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has also commenced an investigation into the incident.
“To serve you better, we will be carrying out scheduled maintenance on our portal this weekend, from 12:00 midnight today, April 17, 2026, to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026.
“During this period, the portal may be temporarily unavailable,” the statement said.
The CAC assured the public that efforts were ongoing to restore full services and enhance the security of its systems to prevent future occurrences.
