ATCON’s Stakeholders’ Engagement on Broadband Plan Comes Up on March 25

All is now set for Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON’s) virtual structured engagement with key stakeholders in the Nigerian Telecom and ICT Sector on the new national broadband plan 2020-2025.

The virtual structured engagement with key stakeholders is billed to hold March 25, 2021.

Mr. Aibola Olude, executive Secretary of ATCON, said that the engagement is positioned to have a landmark impact on the plan configured by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami.

“ATCON embarked on the structured event because knowing the plan and purpose of the federal government under the leadership of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy cannot be said to be enough without complementing the concerted efforts being pursued by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)”.

“The landmark effect would be as a result of the carefully selected industry leaders that have been selected to speak on behalf of their various segment of the industry.

“This specially conceived event would help the government to put the necessary policies that have potentials to support the dreams and aspiration of the New National Broadband Plan 2020 – 2025 which is the focus of the meeting.

“In order to give value for valued our sponsors and ensure worldwide participation, ATCON now have a website completely dedicated to its events.

The Minister, Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), is expected to deliver the Principal Keynote Address on “Enhancing the contributions of sub-sector in the Nigerian national broadband plans through enabling policies”

Also, the Director-General/CEO, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mr Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi and the Director-General/CEO, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr Aliyu Aziz Abubakar, would share their respective commissions and agency’s perspective via a paper presentation on “Aggregating the potentials of the sub-sector to meet the new broadband set target of 70%”.

“Each sub-sector is seen as an integral part of the entire ecosystem of the Nigerian telecom and ICT sector hence, selected representative of various subgroups would be expected to make a presentation on how the new National Nigeria Broadband Plan 2020-2025 is impacting the subsector and list what can be done to make the plan realizes its set target on or before the stated period.
