ALAT By Wema Bank, Nigeria’s first digital bank, has announced the first edition of its speed-eating competition, the #ALATFoodChallenge, where young Nigerians across the country are being called upon to express their love for food.

On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the digital bank stated that the contest will award the sum of N100,000, and other cool gift items to every winner.

The fast-paced competition which will premiere on the app’s YouTube channel – ALAT Showcase — in the third quarter of the year, will be preceded by a two-week application phase that commenced on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 and will end on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

The food challenge is open to all interested persons (challengers) between the ages of 18 to 35 and requires all challengers to sign up on the ALAT app using the code ‘SQUAD’.

Following a successful subscription, challengers are expected to visit the company’s verified social media channels to complete the process.

All successful applicants will be contacted by the banking app subsequently.

Funmilayo Falola, Head, Marketing, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations stated the company’s drive in organizing the ALAT Food challenge.

She said “One of the many things that we love as a nation is great food. We fully appreciate the culture of enjoying good food and the camaraderie of coming together to share.

“While we may not be able to gather in large numbers to break bread and laugh, we can do this challenge to lift our spirits.

“It will be exciting to see how Nigerians will react to this contest, because if there is something we all culturally agree on, it is food.”

ALAT has built a customer base of over 600,000 customers in the past four years, investing over 20 million Naira in various youth-focused initiatives such as SociaLiga, GamOn Turf Football Competition, Social Media Week, and many more since its launch in 2017.

ALAT was named as one of the leaders in digital payments and customer experience by renowned accounting organisation, KPMG, this year.
