We Are Ready to Resume CVR on June 28 – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is ready to resume nationwide continuous voter registration (CVR) scheduled for June 28.

INEC Deputy Director, Voter Education Division, Ms. Mary Nkem, said this during a CVR road show organized by the commission in Abuja.

Nkem said the road show was intended to educate and mobilize eligible CTF voters for the exercise.

“It is also about informing FCT residents of those who are affected by the exercise.

“Those who turned 18 after the last registration exercise, or those who are over 18 but have never registered.

“This exercise is also aimed at those who have problems with their accreditation during the last elections, those who have problems with their permanent voter cards or their biometric information,” Ekem explained.

She said the exercise would take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding weekends.

“This will involve two processes, namely online pre-registration and physical registration.

“So people can sit in the comfort of their own homes and log in to check in.

“Then go to one of our local or government offices to capture their biometrics and photographs; or you physically appear at any designated registry, ”she said.

She said the commission would develop the guidelines for collecting PVCs.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that the roadshow was used to educate FCT residents in different languages, including English, broken English, Hausa, Ibo and Yoruba.

Leaflets containing details on the conduct, time and date of the exercise were also distributed to residents.

The road show, which took off from the INEC headquarters, passed through the Federal Secretariat, Asokoro, the AYA roundabout, the Garki market, zone 11, the Wuse market and the Utako market.

On the tour were INEC staff from the Department of Voter Education and Publicity, members of the National Youth Service Corps, among others. (NAN)
