United States Congressman Riley Moore has expressed deep concern over the plight of displaced persons in Benue State following accounts of violence shared with him during a recent visit.

In a post on X, Moore said he met with dozens of Christians who had been driven from their homes and now reside in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps.
He described the testimonies as harrowing and said they would remain with him for the rest of his life.
According to Moore, survivors recounted incidents of family members being killed, homes destroyed, and lives permanently altered by attacks.
He noted that many victims had suffered severe emotional and physical trauma.
Moore stated that more than 600,000 Christians are currently living in IDP camps in Benue State alone, underscoring the scale of displacement in the region.
He called for urgent action to ensure that displaced persons can return to their ancestral communities and live without fear.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other Nigerian authorities have yet to respond to Moore’s remarks.
