Justice Daniel Osiagor granted the order following an ex parte application filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) through its counsel, Mr. Abu Ibrahim.

The sole respondent in the suit, numbered FHC/L/MISC/1343/2025, is Mr. Adekanbi Akeem Ayinde, the hotel’s owner, who the NDLEA confirmed is currently at large.

Ayinde was declared wanted after investigators traced a cocaine trafficking case to him. A make-up artist, Ms. Adekoya Adebukonla Mary, was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, with 2.2 kilograms of cocaine concealed in her luggage.

She has since been convicted and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.

The NDLEA alleged that Ayinde sponsored the trip and conspired with another fugitive, identified as ‘Yemi,’ to recruit Mary.

Financial investigations reportedly uncovered significant transactions between Ayinde and the convicted courier, linking the hotel to proceeds of illicit drug trade.

Justice Osiagor’s order covers the entire hotel and its appurtenances. The court also directed that:

    • The property be advertised in a national newspaper within 14 days.
    • An Asset Manager be appointed to run the hotel as a going concern.
    • All persons be restrained from dealing with the property pending further orders.

The NDLEA’s motion was supported by a 10-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Mr. Okonkwo Ebuka Anthony, a Litigation Officer attached to the MMIA Strategic Command’s Prosecution and Legal Services Unit.

The matter was adjourned to May 7, 2026, for the NDLEA to present a compliance report.
