Eberechi Eze to join Arsenal in £60m+ deal

Arsenal are set to pull off one of the biggest transfer coups of the summer by signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in a deal worth over £60 million, edging out rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs had been favourites to land the 27-year-old attacking midfielder, but Arsenal moved swiftly amid concerns over a knee injury to Kai Havertz. Eze, who was released by the Gunners as a teenager, now looks poised for a sensational return to the Emirates.

According to reports, Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Palace for a fee close to Eze’s £68 million release clause – the same figure Spurs were ready to offer.

Havertz picked up a knock during Sunday’s victory over Manchester United and missed Arsenal’s open training session on Wednesday, prompting the club to accelerate their move for Eze.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner, however, insists Eze and captain Marc Guehi – another transfer target – remain committed to the team as they prepare for their Conference League play-off clash with Fredrikstad.

“They are committed to the team, they have a contract here, and they have been crucial to our success,” Glasner said. “Until the day they leave, they will continue to give 100 percent for Crystal Palace.”

Eze’s current deal runs until 2027, but his dazzling performances have put him on the radar of top clubs, with Arsenal now leading the chase
