Liverpool have completed the signing of Federico Chiesa on a four-year deal from Juventus for a fee of £10million.

Chiesa, 26, joins on a four-year deal and is Arne Slot’s first signing to arrive at the club.

The deal is a basic £10m fee which could rise to £12.5m based on add-ons which relate to Liverpool winning the Premier League or Champions League.

Chiesa told Liverpoolfc.com: ‘I’m so happy to be a Liverpool player. When [sporting director] Richard Hughes called me and he said, “Do you want to join Liverpool?” – and the coach called me – I said yes immediately because I know the history of this club, I know what it represents to the fans.

“So, I’m so happy and I can’t wait to get started.”

Chiesa is Liverpool’s second signing this week. The Reds announced a deal to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia on Tuesday, before sending him back on loan.

Chiesa’s move to Anfield comes after he spent four seasons in Turin, during which he scored 32 goals in 131 games for Juve.

The 26-year-old – who is the son of former football star Enrico Chiesa – has also netted seven times in 51 appearances for Italy.
