    Abubakar-Malami

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami on Friday night withdrew from the Kebbi State governorship race.

Malami had earlier declared his intention to take over from the state Governor, Atiku Bagudu in 2023.

The Minister as he pushes to clinch the governorship seat gifted some of his associates’ exotic cars.

According to reports, some of the beneficiaries of the car gift are workers at the Khadimiyya for Justice and Development Initiative, a foundation he established.

Nigerians in their reaction believed the cars were gifted to his associates as a means of getting a soft landing ahead of the APC governorship primaries.

However, on Friday night Daily Trust stated that Malami who was among the lawmakers’ President Muhammadu Buhari bade farewell at Aso Rock in the earlier hour of the day, had opted out of the race.

Sources disclosed that the minister has withdrawn from the governorship race.

The Media aide to the minister, Umar Gwandu when contacted said, “I have not been officially briefed.”
