Kano Govt Revokes Licenses of all Private Schools over Hanifa’s Murder

Following the kidnapping and gruesome murder of a five-year-old student, Hanifa Abubakar, by the owner of a private school, the Kano state government ordered the revocation of the operating licenses of all private schools in the state.

State Education Commissioner Muhammad Sanusi announced the decision at a press conference held at his ministry on Monday.

He said the decision was made necessary to sanitize private school operations and rid them of any criminal activity to prevent a repeat of Hanifa’s case.

Sanusi announced that a powerful license revalidation committee would soon be established, adding that the government would set the criteria for the exercise.

According to him, any school that does not meet those criteria would be closed indefinitely.

Therefore, the commissioner called on private school owners to present their licenses and wait for further announcements from the government.

“We are all aware of the ongoing case regarding the death of Hanifa as she was horribly murdered by a suspect named Abdulmalik Tanko, owner of Noble Kids Academy and in view of the sad incidence, especially regarding how she was murdered at the private school . , the state government has decided to withdraw the certificate of all private schools for the revalidation of it.

According to him, the committee would be made up of security agents such as the State Security Service, SSS, NSCDC, Firefighters and other agencies for the success of the exercise.
