When it comes to the beautiful game of football, Nigerians are passionate supporters. And when it comes to the Nigerian women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, that passion is immense!  The Super Falcons are Africa’s most successful women’s football team, and they hold a special place in Nigerian hearts.

As the FIFA Women’s World Cup heats up, we look at five things Nigerians can expect from the tournament.

  • The Super Falcons Stellar Attack: One thing Nigerians should expect from the World Cup is the Super Falcons’ explosive and dynamic attacking play. Our team has an arsenal of attacking talent, led by players like Asisat Oshoala, ‘Agba Baller,’ and Desire Oparanozie. As the Super Falcons take on some of the world’s best defences, expect thrilling runs, intricate passing, and breathtaking goals.

  • The Super Falcons Resilient Defense: The Super Falcons are known for their tough defence, and they will undoubtedly bring their A-game to the World Cup. Nigerians can expect a strong backline that will withstand constant pressure from opponents. The Super Falcons, led by experienced defenders like Onome Ebi, will demonstrate their defensive prowess by stopping attacks and making it difficult for our opponents to breach their defence.

  • The Super Falcons Tactical Approach: The Super Falcons have won 11 African Cup of Nations titles thanks to a strong tactical approach, and Nigerians can expect more of the same at the World Cup. The coaching staff and players on the team have worked hard to develop effective strategies and tactics. A game plan that includes defensive solidity, organised attacks, and effective set-piece plays will give the Super Falcons an advantage against tough opponents.

  • That Naija Swag: Naija no dey carry last, and we always represent. Since Nike became Nigeria’s kit supplier in 2015, we have had kits that have made other countries envious. As we have come to expect, our World Cup kit is absolutely stunning, and we can’t wait to see our Queens proudly wear our famous green and white jersey and leave no doubt that they are true ambassadors of Nigeria.

  • The Support of MTN Nigeria: Since MTN Nigeria became the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) official communications sponsor. MTN has become a mainstay at the stadium, showing active support to every cadre of the female football team, from the Flamingos to the Super Falcons, and the ICT company has even created a series called “The MTN Super Falcons Show” dedicated to showcasing and celebrating our superstars. MTN will undoubtedly support our Queens as they face Canada in their first World Cup match.

The Super Falcons are more than just a football team; they are our Queens of the pitch. As the Super Falcons prepare to take on the world, Nigerians should expect an extraordinary display of skill, passion, and determination. It is only fitting that we rally behind them throughout the World Cup.
