Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands, heir to the Dutch throne, has become the target of a disturbing “deepfake” p0rn attack, according to reports from Norwegian outlet Seher Og Hor.

The manipulated videos, created using artificial intelligence, placed the 21-year-old’s likeness onto the bodies of actors. Dutch authorities, working alongside the FBI, have since moved to shut down websites distributing the explicit content, including MrDeepFakes, a notorious platform previously linked to similar material involving around 70 Dutch women. The site was taken offline globally in May after a major investigation.

Officials in the Netherlands are now pressing Canada to extradite David Do, identified as one of the suspected creators of the website. The princess, who is receiving support from King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, has been described as a repeated victim of such attacks, having faced similar incidents in 2022.

The ordeal comes against the backdrop of a wider crackdown on AI-generated explicit content. Under Dutch law, creating explicit deepfakes is a criminal offence punishable by up to one year in prison, with heavier sentences possible for repeat offenders. Authorities say no arrests have been made so far.

Princess Amalia recently addressed the issue in her academic work, dedicating her bachelor’s thesis at the University of Amsterdam to deepfake abuse and its legal implications. She is preparing to pursue further studies in Dutch law.

The crown princess has previously lived under heightened security due to kidnap threats linked to organised crime groups, forcing her to temporarily step back from her studies. Officials say her safety remains a top priority as investigations into the deepfake case continue.
