Ogun Police Warn TikToker Mirabel of Prosecution Over False Rape Claim

Ogun State Police Command has warned popular TikToker Mirabel (@mirab351) that she risks arrest and prosecution if investigations prove her viral sexual assault allegation false, while affirming commitment to pursue the perpetrator if claims hold true.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated this in a Channels Television interview, stressing the command’s neutrality and dedication to due process amid public scrutiny. “If she’s telling the truth, the perpetrator will be arrested and charged to court appropriately,” he said. “If otherwise, the law goes against giving false information, making anyone culpable.”

Babaseyi debunked rampant social media reports alleging Mirabel’s arrest, clarifying she voluntarily reported the February 15 incident at Ibafo Division, was medically examined due to her fragile state, then transferred to Ogijo station for documentation and ongoing probes.

The Commissioner of Police reportedly directed the Ibafo DPO to contact the complainant after her emotional TikTok video alleging a stranger forced entry into her Ogijo apartment, assaulted her, and sent taunting messages claiming family influence to evade justice, sparking nationwide outrage.

Authorities provided urgent medical care and extended support given her emotional distress, with Lagos DSVA initially involved before jurisdictional handover to Ogun, as investigations continue to ensure transparency and survivor safety.

The case underscores Nigeria’s push for accountability in sexual violence reports, balancing justice for genuine victims against misuse of platforms that erode public trust.
