Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 39-year-old female drug kingpin, Shodunke Yetunde Simbiat, in Lagos, recovering 23.50 kilograms of cocaine concealed in her children’s room.

NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, said in a statement on Monday that the arrest followed months of intelligence and surveillance on the cartel.

He recalled that in May 2024, the agency smashed a trans-border cocaine trafficking syndicate led by a couple, Bolanle Lookman Dauda and Olayinka Toheebat Dauda, with 57.5 kilograms of cocaine seized from them in Lagos and Ogun states.
Babafemi said Simbiat, identified as a key member of the syndicate, went underground after the couple’s arrest but was trailed to her residence at 31 Onasanya Street, Surulere, Lagos, on Dec. 9, 2025.
“A thorough search of her home led to the discovery of blocks of cocaine weighing 23.50 kilograms concealed in a black suitcase recovered from her children’s room,” he said.

He added that the suspect admitted ownership of the consignment, valued at over N5 billion in street worth.
Babafemi stressed that the NDLEA remained determined to dismantle every member of the cartel and safeguard Nigeria from trans-border drug trafficking.
