Court Sends Ahmad Isah to Prison for Sale of Adulterated Grains in Gombe

Ahmad Isah, a 45-year-old farmer and merchant, was convicted and sentenced to one year in prison for adulterating corn and millet seeds, forgery and forgery.

In issuing his sentence, Judge JA Awak of the Gombe State Superior Court said that the act contravened section 379 of the Penal Code brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Gombe Zonal Command.

EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement Wednesday, said the defendant pleaded guilty to the charges when read to him and was sentenced accordingly.

The statement read: “Ahmad in collusion with some people now at liberty, engaged in the purchase of local grains, such as corn, millet, rice, among others, which are then repackaged in 5 kg bags and labeled as hybrid seeds. certified approved, which sell at a higher price. price to unsuspecting victims.

“The investigation revealed that the beans were adulterated and did not meet the minimum seed certification standard.

“In addition, his company, All Farmers Variety Company, was not registered or accredited to participate in the sale / marketing of seeds in Nigeria.”
