TikTok users in several parts of northern Nigeria have reported continued difficulty accessing the platform, with some turning to virtual private networks (VPNs) to restore normal access, reports ravenewsonline.
The disruption has been reported in states including Kaduna, Kano and Sokoto, where users have described problems loading videos, refreshing their feeds and uploading content.
The latest reports indicate that the problems began around September 14 and have continued for nearly two weeks in some areas.
Several users said TikTok became accessible after they connected through a VPN.
TikTok has become an important platform for entertainment, content creation and business promotion in Nigeria, making prolonged access problems significant for creators and small businesses that rely on the service.
For now, affected users don’t have an official explanation as the disruption continues to be reported in parts of northern Nigeria.
However, there is currently no public confirmation from Nigerian regulators, telecommunications operators or TikTok that an official block has been imposed.
The cause of the disruption, therefore, remains unclear.
