Union Bank of Nigeria has been recognised for its contribution to gender inclusion, winning the Most Outstanding Bank in Gender Inclusion award at the Women in Marketing and Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA) 2026.
The award was presented on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The bank said the recognition affirmed its commitment to promoting gender diversity through an inclusive workplace and financial ecosystem designed to empower women, female entrepreneurs and professionals.
It said its initiatives included tailored financial products, capacity building, mentorship, networking opportunities and other programmes aimed at expanding economic opportunities for women.
Themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” WIMCA 2026 brought together female marketing and communications professionals from across Africa to discuss industry trends, leadership, resilience and women’s advancement in the brand and marketing ecosystem.
Olufunmilola Aluko, Union Bank’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, was also recognised as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications.
Reacting to the recognitions, Aluko said the awards validated the bank’s sustained commitment to gender inclusion as a driver of institutional excellence, innovation and sustainable growth.

The organisers described WIMCA as a platform for amplifying female leadership and promoting women’s participation in the brand, marketing and communications industry.
The conference, established by Brand Communicator magazine, has continued to bring together leading female professionals and industry stakeholders to promote leadership and professional development.
Union Bank said it would continue to support platforms and initiatives that promote women’s empowerment and meaningful participation in the marketing and communications industry.
