June 12: We Won’t Allow EndSARS Experience – Police

Ondo State Police Command has said it will not sit back and watch any protests of any form in the state escalating into #EndSARS chaos.

Command public relations officer DSP Tee Leo-Ikoro told the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) by phone on Friday that the police were ready to fight to prevent any breach of public order by an individual or a group.

NAN recalls that several government assets were destroyed by suspected thugs who hijacked the peaceful protest against police brutality, known as “EndSARS”, which was held across the country in October 2020.

Leo-Ikoro said the command has deployed its men to every nook and cranny of the state to make sure the thugs are not hijacking any possible protests.

According to him, “We hear that some students are launching a peaceful demonstration on June 12th. We want to believe that it will be peaceful, as they said.

“We must, however, warn anyone intending to cause havoc or engage in any act that may result in the collapse of public order or the destruction of government property to rethink.

“We are fully on the ground and have deployed our men to every nook and cranny of the state to maintain law and order. Any offender will be severely punished in accordance with the law.

“We will not sit back and watch any protest in any form escalate to the level of the latest #EndSARS protest. We will arrest and prosecute anyone found guilty, ”said Leo-Ikoro.

He urged parents and guardians to warn their children to refrain from any act that could cause chaos and destruction of government property.
