Police Arrest Security Guard Over ₦1.7m Burglary in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old security guard, Yisa Hassan, for allegedly masterminding a burglary in the Ifako area of the state, carting away items valued at ₦1.785 million.

The arrest was made by detectives attached to the Iju Division following a report lodged by a resident who returned home on Aug. 15 to find his house broken into by unknown persons.

Items stolen from the residence included one Sumec generator, one Fireman generator, one National air conditioner, and three air conditioner compressor engines.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Hassan, who was found to be working as a security guard in the same neighbourhood.

Preliminary findings revealed that he conspired with others still at large to carry out the burglary.

The stolen items have since been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend Hassan’s accomplices.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
