US State Department urges Nigerians who were denied visa due to Trump ban to reapply for free

Applicants for US Visa who were denied, because of Trump’s obnoxious travel ban on 13 mostly Muslim-majority and African countries, can now heave a sign of relief as US State Department has said that affected applicants can seek new decisions or submit new applications.

It would be recalled that in January 2020, Trump’s administration blocked Nigeria along with 5 other African countries from obtaining certain types of visas.

But President Joe Biden overturned Trump’s travel ban on his first day in office, Jan 20.

Ned Price, the US State Department spokesman, On Monday, March 8, said applicants who were refused visas before Jan. 20, 2020, must submit new applications and pay a new application fee.

Those who were denied on or after Jan. 20, 2020, may seek reconsideration without re-submitting their applications and do not have to pay additional fees, Price said in a Reuters report.
